home again.

I'm getting back into the swing of things after a trip to New Mexico to visit friends followed by a couple of days sick at home in bed. Now I am going to try to catch up on etsy orders and do my taxes before the day ends tomorrow (plus work my day job all day today and tomorrow, eek!)

Lars is looking pretty surly in this picture but it's one of my favorites. We had a great time in New Mexico! We ate lots of amazing food including divine guacamole by jessi, greasy vegetarian tacos from el parasol and lots of other delicious items all of which included green chiles (they are on EVERY menu in NM, seriously.) We got to see beautiful mountains, gorgeous sunsets and….no snow! But mostly it was so great to see Lars play with his friends Max and Dez and for me to get to hang out with Jessi and Mario, the best people in the whole world. It was sad to say goodbye!

Back in Wisconsin things are...cold.

In related news I have a new TV addiction after a couple of late nights with my friends and will probably have to join netflix again to catch up on It's always sunny in philadelphia.

I stayed up until 3:00am making valentines last night! I wish there was more time in a day. I'm slowly adding cards to my etsy shop and I'm planning to take a small batch down to Anthology this week before I leave for New Mexico on Friday.

Lots of fun things for Valentine's Day in my shop!

Although I barely slept last night I am pretty darn awake. Enjoy your Tuesday!

The last 72 hours.

cutting up vintage national geographics
making pretty cards and lemon bars
affixing many temporary tattoos to my 2 year old and 4 year old
watching a lot of tom & jerry

Chad got in a fender bender this afternoon (someone rear ended the car while he was stopped at a red light, ugh) with both kids but everyone is fine. I hate driving.

In other news, I am ADDICTED to this Jets to brazil song.

Like, so addicted that I have listened to it six times today and like ten times on Friday. It makes me melt.

Also I am still off soda. Go figure.

Things that I'm totally into right now in no particular order.

Hummus. Every variety. I'm going to make this one tonight.

Putting my pajamas on as soon as I get home from work.

Doing lots of laundry but not putting it away.

Planning vacations with everyone I know (where do YOU want to go?)

Strawberry smoothies from Panera

PaRappa The Rapper on PSP (I WON one at work, sweet!)

owl be yours BUTTON
Originally uploaded by space oddities

I was super duper burnt out with all things Space Oddities by the time mid-December rolled around. I was thrilled to have some time off from my day job and from my etsy shop/craft routine once the Christmas rush was over and I had some time off for the holidays.

I seriously felt like I wanted to throw away all of my craft supplies and call it quits.

I'm glad I didn't.

Is this just how everyone feels after the busy holiday season? Luckily this feeling only lasted for about 2 weeks. It went like this: Chad reminded me how much I love making valentines. I told him I never wanted to make anything ever again. I started organizing supplies and found lots of stuff that would be perfect for making lovely valentines, something sparked and I got totally inspired. The end.

So far I've just begun sorting through supplies and gathered one big box of goodies to turn into pretty valentine creations. I'm hoping to find time over the next couple of weeks to get crafting. I've also planned a trip at the end of January to visit my dear friend Jessi in New Mexico so I should probably get started sooner instead of later!

Our first sweet lovey valentine's day item is this Owl Be Yours button made with a revamped version of Chad's owliver illustration. It complements the owl be yours notecards from last year and just makes me smile. I plan to make a couple of versions of these and they'll be available in the etsy shop and at Anthology (as soon as I'm able to get down there!)

Well I'm off to take the kids to the movies. The last toddler movie experience was a bust so wish me luck!
