It's been a crazy week! The good news is that after Friday I have a week off and will be on vacation, sort of. The bad news is that I have a thousand things to do between now and Friday afternoon. So today and tomorrow I plan to work hard and be severely efficent.

But I am going to take a break and zip down to Anthology on my lunch break today. I know that it's silly to shop for craft supplies when I'm planning to move soon, but I really want to look at papers and see what I can find for picture frames. I'm in love with the willow paper I've been using to decoupage frames and I'm hoping I can find some more of it or some more fun nature inspired prints.

Well, that's all I've got! If you're in the Madison area don't forget to check out the Summer Craftacular at the High Noon Saloon on Saturday 6/28. It's sure to be a fantastic show! I'm totally sad about missing it.

Anthology on TV!

If you're in the Madison area, tune in to Madison's CW (local channel 57) tomorrow morning. Anthology, a fantastic new shop where I consign some of my wares, will be featured on the "daily buzz" portion of the morning show at 6:20, 7:20 and 8:20. If you're like me at will be at work during those hours, you can check out the Madison CW website (after tomorrow morning) and the segment will be availble HERE.

Congrats to Sachi and Laura for their awesome success in the new shop. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to work with such talented and friendly folks!

nostalgic for nothing

for freaks & football players

I've been doing a lot of packing and organizing as I prepare to move and with that comes digging up old memories galore. While I was cleaning tonight I found this card made with an illustration that Chad drew more than 13 years ago. Of course I'm feeling nostalgic and I'm going to tell you what it's all about...

When I was a junior in high school I wrote and directed a play called 'For Freaks and Football Players.' Imagine a ridiculous Grease/Say Anything/Outsiders inspired story about a jock who falls in love with a punk rock girl. It was full of cliches, teen angst, heartbreak and a soundtrack that included Screeching Weasel and the Ramones. It was a super fun experience and the play even managed to win best original screenplay/cast and possibly some other random award at a one act play festival.

The picture that Chad drew was used for the program for the play and the illustration was based on the actors. It's kind of odd because Chad was so dead on with getting them to look just like the actors that I feel like I'm looking right at a scene from the play. It totally takes me back.

I think that it also dates our first artistic collaboration back many more years than I had previously thought.

Which is really cool and kind of makes my heart melt.

One more fun side note. Yes, I absolutely cast my best friend and her current jock love interest for the play and added a makeout scene and a dramatic last long kiss scene while the lights faded out at the end. I was sixteen, give me a break.

It's been a long week. Everything seems uncertain and the weather is gloomy. On the bright side, we have a babysitter for Saturday night and we're going to dinner and a movie with my brother and sister-in-law.

AND I've been finding a little time here and there to craft. This makes me happy.

Another late night crafting lesson learned

I spent last night making a couple of picture frames. The first one turned out great. By the time I finished the second one it was super late and I could clearly tell the difference between the two. The second one was way more sloppy and I didn't cut the paper nearly as clean as with the first. Ugh.

I must force myself to sleep (or at least stop crafting) at a reasonable time each night. Sleep is good!

So, well...goodnight!
