Collaborative art wall project: a call to artists!

The recently opened Glitter Workshop, a lovely crafty shop on the west side of Madison, has a great big room that has a whole lot of wall space to fill. The room is set apart from the retail space and is used for craft and art workshops and classes, trunk shows where artists show and sell their work monthly, and craft parties.

After talking to owner Naomi about creative ideas to fill this space, we have decided that it would be so much fun to showcase YOUR creative work! Are you ready for the challenge? The idea is a collaborative art wall which will feature mediums of all kinds - from drawing, painting and photography to quilting, collage, and screen-printing and everything inbetween. Get creative: the sky's the limit! Anyone is welcome to contribute one or two submissions which will be hung on the wall with love and enjoyed by people in the Madison community during Glitter Workshop's monthly trunk shows, workshops, classes and other events.

If you're interested in contributing, please send your work in an approximately 4" x 6" format (please try to stick to something close to this size, it will make it much easier for us to hang your work and make it jive with everything else) and please keep your work family friendly as there will be children visiting this space.

We hope you will participate! If you know anyone who might like to contribute, please pass this info on to them! We're excited to see what everyone creates and can't wait to see how it all comes together! I plan to post updates here as submissions come in so we can keep track of the progress and see the wall fill up!

Submissions can be mailed to or dropped off at: 6138 Mineral Point Rd., Madison, WI, 53705

Craftacular Time!!

The High Noon Holiday Craftacular is this weekend! If you're in the Madison, Wisconsin area, please please come check it out! Featuring 20 awesome vendors and free goody bags for the first 50 early birds on Saturday.

Here are the details
Saturday & Sunday November 24 & 25 from 10am-4pm
at High Noon Saloon, 701 E. Washington, Madison, WI

I created an etsy treasury to showcase some of the vendors who will be at the show. I think I found every vendor who sells on etsy and ended up adding one of my items in so I didn't duplicate. Look at all of the cool stuff that you can find at the show this weekend! Hope to see you there!

pretty paper.

Over the past several months I have started to use these scraps to make fun little magnets. Now I can preserve the prettiness on my refrigerator and spruce up my workspace a little. YAY!

The magnets pictured here represent some of my favorite papers as of late. I have a few varieties of these repurposed paper magnets in my etsy shop right now and plan to add more in the coming weeks. These sets are perfect stocking stuffers!

Enjoy your day.

Go Gocco!

I am anxiously awaiting my birthday present.

My husband and I decided to go with the smaller, less expensive model when we realized that the only model available at paper source is $395 and probably much larger than we really need for our printing purposes. I am so excited to collaborate with my husband with gocco printing. He is the idea man and is also such a talented artist. I want him to get drawing NOW so we can have some new designs ready to get going right away!

I need to get a LOT done before Renegade so it's time to get busy. Lately I have been falling asleep super early when my kids go to bed, waking up at midnight-ish and either going back to sleep or staying up for a couple more hours to try to work on something. But instead of working on something productive I end up just surfing online or doing things that I HAVE to do like dishes or laundry (not that it's not productive, just not what I want to be doing.) Ugh. I really need to get on some sort of schedule and crank out the craft!

I'm hoping the gocco will be a bit of a source of new inspiration. I also need to start drinking more COFFEE.

applepanda!

My friend Jessi and I have been collaborating to make fun greeting cards with removable gifts. Jessi makes the felt dudes and I work them into fun cards that coordinate so that you can take care of your card & gift giving in one. We also have cards with felt embellishments, individual felt pins and magnets, and cards that include a removable pinback button.

It's a pretty wacky deal logistically since I am in Wisconsin and Jessi is in New Mexico, but we make it work, largely by lots of obscenely long phone calls in the middle of the night, the decisiveness of our husbands when we are totally indecisve about if something works or not, and the good ol' USPS (ugh) to get one element of Applepanda to physically be with the other.

As you can see...it is a labour of love. You can visit our etsy shop HERE to see what's new. I hope you dig our stuff. We think it's pretty awesome.

New TRASHION Shop + Trunk Show Announcement!

Last week the etsy Trashion street team launched a collective shop on etsy.com which will feature items from many of the 70+ and growing street team members.

What is trashion? Trash + Fashion = Trashion. But Trashion doesn't just stop at recycled clothing and accessories. Revamped home decor and repurposed paper goods fit the bill, too - and it's all functional, fashionable, and eco-friendly.

Check out the new EtsyTrashion site HERE and check back often as we will be adding new items from street team members frequently.

The street team will also be hosting a trunk show at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn NYC on Friday, July 27th. We will have recycled art, jewelry, clothing, home decor & more for sale, plus there will be trashion-themed films, make-your-own trashion activities and refreshments. The trunk show is FREE and open to all ages, plus the first 25 people through the door will receive a complimentary trashion team gift bag! If you're in the area check it out!!
